MEDICA has a comprehensive quality assurance programme for radiologist reporting. The baseline is a 10% audit of all cross-sectional imaging and 2% of all plain film imaging.
MEDICA has invested in significant development of this process. In addition to the patient outcome discrepancy scoring commonly used in the Independent Sector in the UK, in 2014 we also introduced additional scoring to evaluate the radiological competencies of observation, interpretation and communication.
The company approach is to use the outcome from the audit and discrepancy processes to assist in development of radiological reporting skills and to drive a continuous quality improvement programme. The Medical Director and Clinical Audit Lead seek to adopt an educational approach to discrepancy and audit on an individual radiologist and group basis.
