Stuart Quin : Chief Executive Officer

Stuart Quin joined Medica Group in September 2019 from Synlab, the international laboratory diagnostic services provider, where he was regional Chief Executive of Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. Previously he was Synlab’s Group Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Executive of its operations in UK and Ireland. Stuart brings a track record of delivering significant growth both in the UK and internationally and has extensive experience of working in partnership with the NHS. During Stuart’s tenure in the UK he expanded the business by winning new diagnostic service contracts and through the acquisition of four companies that significantly diversified Synlab’s service offering into drug and alcohol, specialist food and veterinary testing.

Prior to joining Synlab, Stuart worked in private equity as a Director at August Equity and for seven years at 3i in the UK and Germany where he focused on investing in healthcare. Stuart also spent four years at Accenture in the US and UK as a Manager in the health and life sciences strategy consulting practice. Stuart holds a BSc (Hons) in Immunology from the University of Edinburgh, a PhD in Immunology from Imperial College London and an MBA from INSEAD.

Dr Stephen Davies : Medical Director

Dr Stephen Davies MA FRCP FRCR was appointed as Medical Director at MEDICA in May 2013. He undertook pre-clinical studies at Cambridge (Sidney Sussex College) 1975-78 and his clinical studies at The Royal London 1978-1981. Having gained MRCP whilst Medical Registrar at Kings College Hospital he moved back to The Royal London for Radiology Training. He was appointed as a Consultant Radiologist in 1991 to Cwm Taf Health Board where he worked full-time until May 2013 and then part-time until his retirement in December 2016.

He was President of the British Institute of Radiology 2010-2012, UKRC President for 2008 and 2009 Congresses, Associate Dean and Head of Radiology School in Wales 2005-2011 and Quality Assurance Lead for Education for the Clinical Radiology Faculty at the RCR 2010-2012. He is a musculoskeletal radiologist and is an accredited Expert Witness. He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Glamorgan.

His radiological profile is as a musculoskeletal and general radiology. He has an interest in performance in doctors which stems from his time as Head of the Wales Radiology Training School.

As Medical Director at MEDICA Reporting he has responsibility for Clinical Governance and oversight of the Clinical Strategy. He is a Board Member and Responsible Officer.

In October 2015, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal by The British Institute of Radiology.

Kevin Terrins : Business Development Director

Kevin joined MEDICA in 2006. He has operated in a number of the roles for the company and was appointed as Director of Business Development in May 2013. Kevin is focused on ensuring the services offered by MEDICA meet our clients’ needs and continue to develop to meet their future needs. 

Kevin is a qualified Radiographer with extensive Radiology Healthcare IT consulting experience. His background in Radiography and Healthcare IT, together with 10 years of experience in the Teleradiology market, combine successfully to contribute to the year on year growth of the company.

Sarah Burns : Chief Operating Officer

Sarah joined Medica in 2016 as Director of Clinical Services and has since progressed to Chief Operating Officer, where key responsibilities include recruitment, client and radiologist deployments, project management and service delivery. Sarah also works very closely with Dr Stephen Davies, Medical Director and the clinical advisory and clinical governance teams to deliver a patient-focused approach to Medica’s services.

Qualifying some 25 years ago, Sarah is still registered with both the Society of Radiographers and the Healthcare Professions Council.

Sarah has held a number of patient facing clinical roles, both within the NHS and independent sector, gaining a Diploma in MRI. Prior to joining Medica in October 2016, Sarah worked with Alliance Medical Ltd, where she held a variety of senior operational roles responsible for multi-modality clinical delivery.

Marc O’Brien : Chief Technical Officer

Marc joined MEDICA in 2018 as Chief Technical Officer with responsibility for all Information Technology across the group. Marc’s remit is to work with the other members of the Operational Board to ensure that our IT enables the clinically safe growth of the organisation.

Marc has held Senior IT posts across a variety of sectors from Financial Services to Aviation. Marc’s experience ranges from technical leadership through to business transformation.

Over the past 12 years, he has held senior IT roles with a number of the leading Independent Sector Healthcare providers in the UK. His previous role was as Chief Information Officer for InHealth Group, the Diagnostic Services and Healthcare Solutions provider.
